The short version
- Conclick is the top pick if you want to know which traffic actually earns money: it adds revenue attribution, heatmaps, and funnels that Fathom simply doesn't have, per their docs as of July 2026.
- Plausible is the best pure pageview swap if you want near-identical simplicity at a lower price.
- Simple Analytics and Pirsch round out the field for specific use cases.
Ties every Stripe, Paddle, Polar, Lemon Squeezy, or Dodo payment back to the source, campaign, and funnel that earned it.
Click maps, scroll depth, and rage/dead clicks on real screenshots of your actual pages.
Surfaces your single biggest drop-off and the revenue you are losing to it, no manual setup.
Fathom Analytics is a fine product. It's fast, private, GDPR-friendly, and the dashboard is clean enough to look at every morning without wanting to close the tab. But if you're a bootstrapped founder trying to grow a SaaS or a small ecommerce shop, "clean dashboard" isn't the goal. Knowing which blog post drove your last five paying customers is. Fathom doesn't tell you that. Neither does most of what you'll find in listicles that recycle the same five tools. This post surveys the real alternatives: what each one actually does well, what it skips, and who should pick it.
1. Conclick: Best for Founders Who Want Revenue Attribution
Conclick is where I'd start if I were switching from Fathom today. The core pitch is simple: most analytics tools show you traffic. Conclick shows you which traffic makes money. That's a different product. If you want the line-by-line version rather than this roundup, I put the two head to head on features and price.
The revenue attribution layer connects your payment processor (Stripe, Paddle, Polar, Lemon Squeezy, or Dodo) to every visitor session. So instead of knowing '300 people came from that ProductHunt post,' you know '300 people came from that ProductHunt post and 8 converted, totalling $720 MRR.' That's the number that matters. Fathom has no version of this: their docs list no payment-processor integration as of July 2026.
Heatmaps and click maps that use real screenshots
Most heatmap tools (looking at you, Hotjar) reconstruct your page layout from the DOM and get it subtly wrong. Conclick takes an actual screenshot of your page and overlays clicks on top of it. You see rage clicks, dead clicks, and scroll depth on the real thing, not an approximation. If you've ever wondered why your pricing page isn't converting, this shows you in two minutes what a user research session would take two weeks to surface.
Funnels that find themselves
You don't have to define your funnels manually. Conclick auto-detects them and surfaces your biggest revenue drop-off points. Most founders are losing customers at a step they haven't even thought to measure. The visual user journey view shows how real sessions move through your site, and the live global visitor map is genuinely useful for spotting if a launch is picking up traction in a new market.
Daily digest keeps you looped in without opening another tab
Every morning you get a summary via email, Slack, Discord, or Telegram. Not just vanity metrics: it's a narrative digest of what happened, what changed, and what's worth paying attention to. If you're running a product solo or with a tiny team, this replaces your morning dashboard check.
Setup, privacy, and price
Conclick is cookieless, GDPR and CCPA-friendly, and usually doesn't require a consent banner. Setup takes about two minutes: one script tag. It imports from Google Search Console and GA4 so you don't start from zero. Pricing is $9/month or $7/month billed yearly, with a 14-day free trial and no card required. There's also an optional lifetime deal.
Who it's for: bootstrapped SaaS founders, indie makers, small ecommerce teams. Anyone who needs to connect traffic to revenue and doesn't want to wire together five separate tools to do it.
| Feature | Conclick | Fathom Analytics |
|---|---|---|
| Price (entry)Fathom's entry price is higher at the same feature tier | $9/mo ($7 yearly) | $14/mo |
| Free trial, no cardConclick offers 14-day trial with no credit card; Fathom requires card | ||
| Revenue attributionConclick connects Stripe/Paddle/Polar/LemonSqueezy/Dodo to traffic; Fathom has no equivalent, per their docs as of July 2026 | ||
| Real-screenshot heatmapsConclick overlays clicks on actual page screenshots; their docs list no heatmap feature as of July 2026 | ||
| Auto-detected funnelsConclick surfaces revenue drop-offs automatically; Fathom has no funnel analysis, per their docs as of July 2026 | ||
| Daily digest (email + Slack/Discord)Conclick sends a narrative daily digest to multiple channels; Fathom has basic email reports only | ||
| Cookieless, GDPR-friendlyBoth are fully cookieless and privacy-first, so this row is a tie | ||
| Script performance / page weightFathom's script is slightly lighter, a genuine win for Fathom on raw page weight | ~2 KB | ~1.3 KB |
| GA4 + GSC importConclick imports existing GA4 and Search Console data; Fathom does not |
2. Plausible: Best Like-for-Like Fathom Swap
Plausible is the tool most people should try first when leaving Fathom. The dashboards look almost identical. It's open-source, EU-hosted, cookieless, and the script is tiny. If all you need is clean pageview analytics and you want to pay less, this is your move: Plausible starts at $9/month for up to 10k pageviews, which undercuts Fathom at the low end.
What it doesn't do: no heatmaps, no revenue attribution, no user journeys. It's a traffic dashboard, full stop. For a content site or a side project that just needs to know where visitors come from, that's enough. For a SaaS trying to figure out which acquisition channel converts to paid, it's not.
3. Simple Analytics: Best for Absolute Simplicity
Simple Analytics does exactly what it says. One dashboard, no cookies, no consent banner needed in most jurisdictions, EU-hosted. It also has a unique AI-powered query interface where you can ask plain-English questions about your traffic data, a genuinely useful feature if you'd rather type 'which country sent the most signups last month' than build a filter.
It's more expensive than Plausible at scale and has less depth than Conclick. But if you want the absolute minimum cognitive overhead and a dashboard you can show a non-technical co-founder without any explanation, Simple Analytics is worth a look. It starts around $9/month.
4. Pirsch: Best for Developers Who Self-Host
Pirsch is a privacy-first analytics tool built in Go. It's fast, lightweight, and has a well-documented API that developers actually like working with. The self-hosted option is genuinely production-ready, which makes it attractive if you have data residency requirements or just don't want to send data to a third party at all.
The dashboard is less polished than Fathom or Plausible, and per their docs as of July 2026 there's no revenue attribution or heatmaps. But if you're a developer-first team that wants full control and a clean API to build on top of, Pirsch punches above its weight. The cloud version starts at around $5/month.
Which one should you actually pick?
- You run a SaaS or ecommerce shop and want to tie traffic to revenue: Conclick.
- You want the closest possible Fathom replacement with less friction and similar price: Plausible.
- You want the simplest possible dashboard and an AI query layer: Simple Analytics.
- You're a developer who wants self-hosting and a clean API: Pirsch.
- You're already using Fathom and it's working: stay. No reason to switch if it does what you need.
The honest answer is that most of these tools handle basic traffic reporting well. The differentiator is what happens after the pageview: does the tool help you understand what that traffic is worth? Right now, only Conclick does that at the price point most indie founders are working with.
